Next-Gen RAM 1500 to come with new Diesel Option

September 30th, 2013 by

It is undeniable that Americans are beginning to change their tune when it comes to diesel engines. Where Europeans have been putting diesel drivetrains in their consumer cars for ages, the trend has only recently begun to catch on here in the states. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee recently had the diesel option added to its portfolio and it appears that RAM trucks will soon follow suit.

Specifically, it has been announced that the next generation of the RAM 1500 pickup will offer a diesel option for drivers looking to extend their fuel efficiency and vehicle longevity.

RAM is already promising that the new diesel drivetrain will be more efficient than the current gasoline one. We suspect that the diesel option will carry a larger price tag, but it should even out over time. RAM officials are stating that the new engines have the power of a V8 with the mileage of a V6 and that is something that every truck owner would enjoy.

It is likely that RAM will use the same EcoDiesel engine currently being used on the new Grand Cherokee. That model gets an estimated 30 mpg on the highway, so we have high hopes for the new 1500 diesel option.

Of course the arrival of these models is still a long ways off. Until then, you can learn everything there is to know about the 1500 or any of the new RAM vehicles in our inventory by visiting the Ron Sayer's Chrysler Jeep Dodge showroom.
